I met this little guy 6 months ago. Oh how time flies. Babies change so much in a short amount of time. I added a new All Inclusive Baby Session to help parents capture this special time.

This chubby baby reminded me of my first son. (My son had rolls on his rolls)  Add his adorable smile and that he was as happy as could be and his 6 month session was magical.

I never got to blog them. I am horrible at blogging but am trying to get better. Hasn’t he changed so much!

But it is not enough. I want to remember the little things. The everyday stuff. I tried to lug my big fancy camera with me and take pictures. But I finally admitted something to myself. I hate it. I hate lugging the heavy camera and lenses. Even with my smallest lens it was too heavy and I was always worried it was going to get stolen or broken. Then I switched to just using my camera phone. It is easy and enough. Nope. After a few months I wasn’t happy with the pictures, they weren’t good enough. I would flip from my camera to my fancy camera.

The problem was that my fancy camera was a chore and a very time intensive. Converting the images to jpg, editing them, making them perfect. I didn’t have time for it. It became a chore. Then I would look through my camera phone pics and they were blurry and the quality was not great. Is it ok for a quick snap to post on fb. yes. But it wasn’t what I wanted to hold my memories in the future.

Finally I decided that I needed a happy medium. I decided to spend on a good quality point and shoot. It felt like a waste of money since I had a really amazing camera. I even had a little $100 point and shoot. But I decided my kids memories were worth the money. I researched and ended up buying the Canon G15.

So far I am very happy with it. It is small and fits in my purse and soon my diaper bag. It is perfect for all those things at the kids school like field trips. Where I don’t need amazing pictures but want to remember the day later on in life. I love it for holidays and birthdays. I also love it because my husband can take it and get shots. I am not always responsible for the picture taking.

Here are some of our everyday not super amazing but still special images. 

Then I got pg with #3. Being pregnant has made me go down memory lane with my first 2 pregnancies. What I found was that after 9 years of being a mom my memory was not good as I thought. When my husband would ask me well how big was your belly with E I couldn’t remember exactly. When I sat down and thought about it I only had three sessions with images of me in the last 9 years. It made me so sad. How could I had allowed this to happen. If I was gone tomorrow would my kids even be able to remember what I looked like. I realized that my hatred for myself was stopping me from having memories. Memories of different stages of my kids WITH ME.

So I decided to do something that I hated more than anything. I decided to suck it up and get in front of the camera. As comfortable as I was behind the camera it was the complete opposite when the tables were turned. But after my holiday images I realized something…

When I look at my pictures I don’t see the person that I wants to loose weight. I see a mom and a family that is happy. I don’t look at the images on my wall and think “oh I look so ….” I think wow I am so blessed to have a beautiful family and a beautiful image to remember this amazing time.

I also realized that posing myself and little photoshop (ok a lot) and I don’t look so shabby. I can do for myself what I do for my clients. Do I look like my pictures on a daily basis, NO. But in two years who will even remember. I will just remember being happy. If you would have told me that taking pictures of myself would increase my self-esteem I would have laughed. However it really has done that for me. I look at images of myself and smile. Smile for the blessing that I have in my life that go way beyond my looks. My two  three healthy kids, a wonderful husband and so much more.

So next time you grab the camera to avoid being photographed think twice. In ten years what do you want to remember. Hiring a professional you won’t look like those horrible camera phone snaps. You will look and feel beautiful. It is true what they say…Your kids don’t see the extra pounds. They see their mom that they love more than anything in the world. What better gift can I give my kids than a picture to remember our lives now.

The excuses I used  to make.

• -As soon as I loose x amount of weight I will be in the pictures. That never happen and years went by with no pictures of me with my kids, husband or our family.
• -I will hate how I look in the pictures why even bother. Why because now I look back and wish I had them. If you really do hate them put them in a drawer where no one can see them. Maybe in a few months or years you will look at them and think wow I didn’t look that bad or man I was young. Or even better wow I am glad I have these images. But what you can’t do is go back and take pictures of the past.

So you can see that I am not just blowing smoke here are some of my holiday pictures and my maternity images. Yes maternity. Even though I feel huge and the last thing I wanted to do was take pictures I forced myself. For my kids and for future me. Much to my surprise I think I look great for being 8 months pregnant. Plus the image of me and my kids makes my heart happy.

Most Adorable Newborn in Austin

When I walked into this newborn session I did a double take. I knew dad was the brothers with my past client but I didn’t expect a twin. I was shocked at the fact that they look exactly alike. This family was just wonderful..I even got one of baby with Grandma. Big sister was not too sure about me but I was able to capture the impossible newborn with a two year old shot.

I love how newborns bring a family together. It is such an amazing time in a families life. I am so blessed that people allow me to photograph it so they can remember years down the road.

Picture perfect twin photo session

I have been photographing these two since they were newborns. They have a special place in my heart. When they first see me they are quiet and pretend like they don’t know and love me but after a few minutes they remember why they love me. Well maybe a little more than a few minutes. Here is another fav of mine here.

This maternity photography session was extra special for me. We met up in Cedar Park and had a blast.

My wonderful friend Lyndsay from Life in Motion Photography is expecting her 4th. We had a blast getting together and capturing their excitement. This baby is coming into a family that has a lot of love and laughter. He is one lucky baby.

Walked into this house and I thought I had died and gone to heaven. It was a true dream. Beautiful sleeping baby + beautiful mom/dad + beautiful backdrop = one happy photographer.

It is time for our annual fall booking specials. I only run two specials a year so if have been wanting to book this is the time.
